When you dine with us at the Arches, you’re taking a step into history. Our building has stood below the Coton Arches for many years, dating all the way back to the Victorian Era.
Due to the expansion of the Railways, Victorian Architecture evolved, and with it – so did the buildings. Most Victorian buildings were classical, although the style was used with greater flexibility and variety than ever before. It could encompass both formal magnificence and the picturesque Italian Renaissance style.
The Coton Arches bridge has been a feature of the Chilvers Coton area of Nuneaton since about 1850 when the railway was completed. At that time the road network was quite different, with a crossroads of Bridge Street, Coton Road, Avenue Road and Coventry Road converging at the bridge.
